Beers of the Canary Islands, redux
Jo and I are just back from another week in sunny Tenerife, which for yours-truly meant a seven-day staple beer-diet of cerveza-style lagers: Dorada and Dorada Especial, Cruzcampo, Estrella Galicia and - a new one to me - Reina Oro. This last one was still a fairly typical lager, but I was told that it's additive-free and it tasted pleasant enough; quite hoppy with a light dryness, not too gassy.
(I didn't have to drink lager, of course. There was quite a lot of John Smith's Extra Smooth around, but I wasn't that desperate. Besides it was bloody hot and under those sorts of conditions, that cerveza stuff really does hit the spot...)
Anyhow, there's clearly been plenty of activity in and around the beerblogosphere while I've been away. I was hoping to do another link round-up before I went but I ran out of time, so I'll be sifting through my RSS feeds over the next few days and will post a round-up (or two) before too long, all being well. Adios for now.

I was looking forward to a review of the local cerveza's on offer in the Canary Islands!

Also just returned from the Canary Islands (La Gomera for me). I searched high and low for other beers than the usuals, but with no luck.
As you say, Dorada does the trick with the weather. After a week of only that (the bars were all out of Reina) I have had my share of lagers and sun for the rest of the year.
Hope you had a great vacation!

@Jules - Ah, sorry about that. Really not much to say though - cold, lagery cerveza all the way (see last year's post on the subject as well).
@Daniel - We did the day-trip to La Gomera while we were over there. Quite fabulously dramatic scenery, but as you say, not much beer variety... but then there isn't much more on the larger islands either. The local Netto had a few German, Czech and Spanish pilsners (nothing you wouldn't find in the UK though) and a few bars offered cans of Guinness if we were prepared to stump up E3 (about £2.95) a go, but we demurred.
